NSM supports the Army's participation in the Defense Standardization Program's (DSP) implementation of strategies to provide products and services that meet the needs of the acquisition and logistics communities. Standardization is the documentation of engineering decisions regarding materiel items such as weapon systems, components, materiel and spare and repair parts. It enables operability among systems and within systems by ensuring compatible interfaces and component commonality and interchangeability.
